I like to ask a variety of questions, sometimes silly, serious, and/or strange. Never asking in an attempt to pester or “just asking questions” stuff.
Will I migrate from Lemm.ee to elsewhere? I don’t know yet. If I do, you’ll see here. If not, never stop questioning everything!

ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which jobs has the internet largely eliminated, undercut, or reduced?2·3 months agoComments like this make asking these questions so worth it. That’s such a cool thing to know is happening somewhere!
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which animals, besides cats or dogs, would you give a ride to or intentionally let in your home with barely a second thought?5·3 months agoCruising on a boat, spot a shark fin, “Hey pal want a tow?” Or if the boat has some kinda bay, “Flop aboard for a ride sharko!”
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which animals, besides cats or dogs, would you give a ride to or intentionally let in your home with barely a second thought?7·3 months agoPersonally, and it might end me one day, but almost any kinda lizard I think I’d welcome in.
Also sometimes groundhogs look like they might like a brief lift to another patch of dirt to dig around in, or I dunno, maybe a brief snack run.
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Games@sh.itjust.works•Which wired controllers, without batteries, would you recommend for PC?English3·3 months agoSo it’s really just that the battery adds a bit of weight, and someday the thing will fail and maybe cause electrical failure of the gamepad.
Emphasis added, yeah this is among the reasons I’m asking. The other reasons I’ve noted, but this underlies a lot of it. I don’t know how long the dual-use ones’ batteries may last if I’m primarily using them wired, so instead of having that in the back of mind, I’d like to get a wired controller for when gaming on devices I’m already close to (which is mostly PC, hence asking for it specifically).
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Games@sh.itjust.works•Which wired controllers, without batteries, would you recommend for PC?English2·3 months agoThis is a good list, but y’know a niche ya missed? Pressure sensitive buttons, only really useful for those emulating old games that used them, but still a fun feature to remember.
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Games@sh.itjust.works•Which wired controllers, without batteries, would you recommend for PC?English3·3 months agoYeah in hindsight I’m kicking myself for not having gotten one like that, but I had trouble finding wired ones at the time (and didn’t think I’d get tired of the battery maintenance), which surprised me.
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Games@sh.itjust.works•Which wired controllers, without batteries, would you recommend for PC?English1·3 months agoThe cheap part of PowerA controllers is a little of why I asked, as I’ve not had an opportunity to ask anyone that’s used them.
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What ethical, or legal, ways could someone make themselves or something unmarketable?1·3 months agoWould taking notes from some dogs and rolling in foul stuff count?
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What ethical, or legal, ways could someone make themselves or something unmarketable?11·3 months agoWhy limit your imagining to products alone? Even in that reply I’m not specifying person or thing (despite the use of “it”), and with the original question I’m asking either marketing oneself or something.
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What ethical, or legal, ways could someone make themselves or something unmarketable?6·3 months agoThe internet has been carefully curated […]
You mean the fuckin’ corporate internet? 😜
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What ethical, or legal, ways could someone make themselves or something unmarketable?4·3 months agoYes but also markets in general, because why not?
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What ethical, or legal, ways could someone make themselves or something unmarketable?3·3 months agoNo no, if they could hire you for that you’d be marketable, but if you actively liked the product and kept talking them up only to make them uncool and refused being paid to or paid to stop, maybe? 🤔
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What ethical, or legal, ways could someone make themselves or something unmarketable?5·3 months agoI would think like however ungovernable is meant but directed toward businesses and markets.
I guess that may look like disregard for contracts, refusing to sell to businesses, applying for jobs only to string businesses along or ghost them like they have so many, or things like this?
Asking to see how people interpret and run with the idea, what they consider unmarketable and the ways to achieve it
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What ethical, or legal, ways could someone make themselves or something unmarketable?3·3 months agoAs in you can’t market it because it wouldn’t sell regardless of how you may try.
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What subreddit are you trying to replace on Lemmy that needs pumping up?8·3 months agoMay be too specific but have been inconsistently trying to get !likethismaylike@lemm.ee going as a community to find alternatives/similar stuff to what one likes.
It’s a riff on the old ifyoulikeblank subreddit without the initially unclear tagging requirements.
People comment, which is great, but few other posters.
Would you need to pair them with an adblocker, or do some handle adblocking built-in?
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You have the opportunity to make individual words for which there aren't any, instantly adopted, which words do you make and why?1·4 months agoPerhaps malleerphobia? Or if being formal-ish, anaspectaphobia?
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You have the opportunity to make individual words for which there aren't any, instantly adopted, which words do you make and why?4·4 months agoAs in put into regular use and understood in all the various ways they may come to be understood. As compared to a word that one makes up in private that only they understand and may never pass from them into use by anyone else, particularly with their personal understanding/meaning.
However this is meant as a fun question, so you may answer with your ideal conditions in mind. The question is meant to provide a starting point, not set any strict bounds or punitive conditions.
ALostInquirer@lemm.eeOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You have the opportunity to make individual words for which there aren't any, instantly adopted, which words do you make and why?7·4 months agoOn further thought, adding a couple words to the already kinda long question wasn’t too much. I adjusted it to better ask what I had in mind, which was what invented words would you make and have instantly adopted.
Given some similar issues, why is it some projects still use IRC then?
