I get that, but I don’t even mean it in that sense. A corporation should not have any control over what I do whatsoever unless I’m their employee.

Even if you’re morally opposed to the various things this addresses, it is so immensely concerning and unwise to want a corporation to have this much control over your actions, daily life, and liberty.

Almost 38, I spend all my free time with my wife. Started off more balanced before we moved for my work, and the more I focused on time with her, the happier we were. I hang out with work friends occasionally.

My pre marriage friends became vile, Trump-worshipping, incel assholes, so I am very content with my decisions.

I always understood it as him or the speaker singing the lyrics as if the audience was innocent in the events, and the leaders /villains/whoever are not “us” and they did it.

My former friend group that still plays a lot of video games took a different path. Some have no career progress, others have horrible marriages, and a couple are cheating scumbags.

I like to think my wife and I made some good choices and we work to keep making them.

I got an Aoostar WTR Pro for this exact purpose. I went with jellyfin over plex due to plex enshittification, haven’t had any issues yet. You can find smaller NAS devices if you want. I avoided Synology because something felt off, and now they’re enshittifying too.

I like the people suggesting to build your own, that’s my next plan.
