  • I haven’t tried *WRT in this house, but I tried replacing my TP-Link with pfSense and also with OPNSense but neither would get an IP from the ISP. As soon as I switched back to my router (purchased by me, not ISP provided) I immediately got an IP again.

I tried cloning my router’s MAC address and manually entering a static IP, but neither got me an internet connection, so I got annoyed and switched back to my commercial router. I’ve been meaning to try out openWRT but I’m afraid of compromising my mesh setup.

    Big Ring Energy

Also, have you seen the movie Home? One could very easily argue about whether it’s a good movie, but there’s a scene in it where a hostile alien ship flies into Saturn’s ring and has a very visually impressive impact.

Again, not making any comment on the quality of the movie in general … That scene struck me as so cool that a screenshot of it has been my wallpaper on my work computer for nine years.

edit: I don’t run a public webserver anymore, but at the time I did and was unaware of things like nextcloud and copy party, so I had to save the screenshot to my webserver to get it to my work computer to use as the background.

  • I think this is the kind of heart monitor you get if you have heart concerns. For example, a few months ago I had an experience that might have been a heart attack. When I told my doctor, they recommended wearing a heart monitor for two weeks to identify any problems.

I wasn’t instructed to write down any details. Instead, the monitor came with a phone with a locked down app. If I experienced symptoms, I would press a button on the monitor attached to my chest, then choose the symptoms on the app (high HR, chest pressure, lightheadedness, nausea, etc.) There was a section for notes, but it was optional.

I can see an argument being made for it being invasive, but it’s not mandatory and, at least from my experience, you don’t have to provide any information you don’t want to (though you probably should for a proper diagnosis).

I haven’t yet had my follow-up appointment, but I very much doubt the cardiologist has any interest in anything that is not directly relevant to your evaluation.
