In my country we do have a ton of public chargers but car owners report that it’s more expensive than gas. You either have a way to charge at home or it’s just not worth it.
Depends on the gas prices, but yeah, even in the US often ‘fast chargers’ would be equivalent or even more expensive than gas.
If you take fast chargers with the milage most EVs get (roughly 2mi/kwh), the per kwh price needs to be roughly $0.35/kwh or lower for electric to be cheaper (home rates essentially across the US are lower than this), but fast chargers often climb to $0.45-0.55/kwh.

You don’t need fast charging if every parking spot has a charger. You only need those for long trips.
