Sounds like there is a lot of cool new stuff.

Agent Karyo@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•RimWorld - Odyssey expansion and update 1.6 out now!English7·5 days agoI played the base game a lot (many hundreds of hours, also before it was released on Steam). I think I’ve only tried the royalty DLC.
On one hand I want to get back into Rimworld, on the other hand the mechanics from all the DLCs seem overwhelming.
Agent Karyo@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss - Closest modern equivalent?English5·5 days agoIt’s got a top-down CRPG view (similar to the Fallout 1/2), but Avernum: Escape from the Pit might fit thematically.
You end up in an underground fantasy world where “undesirables” are sent to by a corrupt empire.
Another option would be Underrail. Another top down CRPG, this time based in a post-apocalytic world where everyone lives underground. The world building is top notch and the combat is very well developed with lots of choices (it’s a also IMO a hard game). While the world building is strong, the writing (characters and their motivations) is rather weak.

I had the same issue. I was actually genuinely interested about how a wargame was made about WinRAR.
I can understand a business tycoon game where you have to develop a compression/archive software company. Very, very nerdy, but there is a logic here.
A wargame about WinRAR? That’s a whole different level.

Rather unique I must say.

And it seems “impacted” can be used in the sense of “affected”.
I am confused :)

Agent Karyo@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•The Switch 2's price won't be impacted by Japan's new tariffs, but its games mightEnglish83·8 days agoAt first I was thinking, why not use “impacted”, it sounds a little bit awkward, but I’ve definitely seen it being used in relatively formal situations (or at least that’s what I remember).
But no, I looked it up and “impacted” should not be used in the sense of affected. TIL.

'My relationship with Gabe didn't really go that great'English15·10 days agoGunman Chronicles launched on November 21, 2000, and received mixed reviews from critics, which is still a sore point with Flower. “When you see reviews and they’re like, ‘Oh, this game is too much like Half-Life!’ And you’re like, ‘What, the best game that you ever rated? Too much like that, huh?’” The game sold relatively well, although Flower says he “didn’t get rich” off his cut. “I probably could have made as much money painting cars, as far as take-home money. But royalties are taxed at a lower rate, so it spent pretty good.”
On one hand, it’s already huge success that your game is being compared to HL1, on the other hand, that’s one tough competitor.

I’ve played Deus Ex enough times that I sort of enjoy the clunky and RPG progression gunplay.
Thanks for sharing!
