Very interesting, I work in IT and talked about how useless AI is and I got told off by multiple “scientists” because AI was revolutionising the way they did their research.
Granted this was on Reddit so maybe just people wanting to argue.
I’ve been in IT since 2007 I’ve been with computers since 1994 with a second hand MS DOS.
AI is 100 very good for scientists and people in the medical industry (I don’t know why, but I know they’ve all told me it’s good for them). Outside of the above… Everything else about AI is pointless… It’s just googling things slightly faster than I can google things.
As someone who has hating doing IT support for printers for the last 18 years… This hurts me a little bit mentally.
I’m sure there’s some other comic in the same aspect that involves Microsoft Excel that I have hated since 2003… (When I was doing a year 9 highschool assignment)
The only thing I found is that you need to install a video player, an image viewer and other minor things that don’t get included on the OS.
Upside is you don’t get all the normal windows bloatware, and you choose when to update not the computer shutting down for an update when it feels like it.
My work laptop is a touch screen, The only time I’ve used it is when I accidentally brushed the corner of the screen reaching passed and closed the window I was working on.
I only moved off 7 about 18 months ago. Check out W10 LTSC IoT It’s much nicer than regular W10 and it’s supported until 2032

I’m 37 years old, I only buy digital when it’s cheap and easy.
I will never ever buy a $100 game digitally. Years ago when I bought overlord, overlords DLC and overlord 2 all for $5 and I got 40+ hours out of it… That was 10 years ago… If that is taken away from me then I’ll be annoyed but I won’t want to burn down the entire industry.
Rockstar a few years ago created a terrible remaster of GTA3, GTA VC and GTA SA and they wanted to exterminate the original PS2 versions.
I’m Happy the digital versions but I still have all of the PS2 discs in a box somewhere.
GTA VI is releasing soon with no disc… Enjoy! No disc… And no Lazlow… I’ve got plenty of other games on discs I can play.
Which is really depressing as the only time I buy digital is when the games are 60% off or more.
That’s actually really cool. All I can think of with AI is how many of the users I support are going to start throwing critical, private customer data into it asking for a recap… Completely unaware of how it’s going to store that data
It’s pretty accurate, AI and every other nonsensical idea in the IT world is making everything worse because all the big bosses want to see AI take off.
Baby Boomers destroyed the world and hated the Internet Gen X and the very oldest of millennials want to see AI take over… They’re now aware that AI will take their jobs too.
Gen Z and younger millennials are using AI daily.
I am 37 years old, I work in IT support… I know now to Google things, I know how to talk to people… So I don’t need AI.
Yes yes I’m very very aware how great AI is for science and medicine… I’m not in either of those fields so I don’t need AI.
Okay update, It’s 100% AI scripted, voice acted and animated.
I have no idea what AI China has but apparently most of the videos are 2 mins, but there’s entire series.
Seems like most of it is just about marital problems between a husband and wife in different times and settings.
I’m not sure about the script or voice acting as I don’t understand Mandarin, but visually the ENTIRE thing is AI rendered.
He’s sadly right… My wife is Chinese, she watches AI Chinese dramas and she has told me that most of China watch AI dramas. And Gen Z watch AI, Everyone younger than 30 relies on AI.
Now before you downvote me, I’m 37 and I’ve worked in IT since I was 19… AI gives me nothing I can’t find for myself. The only time I’ve used AI was when chat GPT was fresh and new and I told it to be more sarcastic and snarky in it’s answers and I argued with it for 2-3 mins before I got bored.
Humans are much better at arguing with me and being sarcastic to me.
I don’t care for AI, Turn off all the air conditioners and AI burns out.

Yep happened to me too I had a good 60k+ Karma on a 5 year old account.
Say that Nazis should be fought back against and that Child predators should be locked away for life and Reddit decided I was a dangerous individual and banned me.

Look how many of those companies and software no longer exist.
Now my company is moving to Windows 11, I see all these problems and bugs because Microsoft company-wide actually don’t understand the product that they support.
Go to your windows computer, go into the settings, dive deep into the settings… The older the UI looks the more likely it’s going to be actually in control of your computer.
