Nice. We need something like this. Digital archiving is still best done on magnetic tape as disk and flash drives all fail after a few decades. But even for regular users, it’d be nice to keep a digital copy of family photos that lasts forever.

Learn an instrument! An hour of noodling a day will get you to pretty good quite quickly. An hour of real, hard practice, doing etudes, drills, and scales will make you a virtuoso one day.

Cognitive dissonance is the emotion disruption caused by internal inconsistencies, not necessarily the inconsistencies themselves. Making peace with them is important for our own sanity. If you don’t have any strong emotions, I would probably say there’s no cognitive dissonance. I’m not a vegan either.

People eat meat and love animals. Veganism is perfectly healthy and doesn’t require killing creatures just as intelligent and loving as their dogs and cats in order to have adequate and delicious nutrition.

Very yes. They could reveal their location for starters, which could spoil a mission and put lives at risk, but if they use the same device on both this and the ships network, you risk compromising the ship’s network or even the Navy itself, giving our enemies all kinds of sensitive info.

Well that’s just not true. You don’t just rename it to .exe and it will work on PC. The already made multiplayer will look for non-existent hardware, using obsolete and insecure methods to secure to a service that no longer exists on a completely different operating system. They would not only need to completely rewrite the client side net code from scratch, they’d have to write their server side code from scratch too, on top of paying a massive monthly fee to AWS or whatever to host it. Adding multiplayer won’t convince enough additional people to buy it to offset these costs; almost everyone is buying this game for the single player. Adding multiplayer means less profit and more delays.

I’d watch an Anakin/Wolverine show. First half, anakin gets sent to Northern Alberta with nothing but his wits. He meets up with Logan, after a few episodes as rivels they work together and become friends. Second half, the figure out how to get anakin back, Logan comes with, gets lightsaber claws.

Taking other people’s creative works to create your own for-profit product is illegal in every way except when AI does it. AI is not a person watching videos. AI is a product using others’ content as its bricks and mortar. Thousands of hours of work on a project you completed being used by someone else to turn a profit, maybe even used in some way you vehemently disagree with, without giving you a dime is unethical and needs regulation from that perspective.

Internet moderation needs to be performed dispassionately. It’s administration, not leadership. But still, it appeals to power-tripping, self important assholes who have no interest in curating a functional community but instead ensuring everyone thinks and acts exactly like they do. The larger lemmy gets, the more of these awful moderators make up the moderation team. There is no mechanism in place to prevent this. I don’t even know how such sa mechanism would work, but as soon as one is figured out, the Internet will be a better place.
