It’s been a few years since I last bought a TV, but I’ve been happy with my Sony. About once or twice a year I get a “software update available” message, which is weird since it has never been connected to any network, but I just dismiss it and continue my regular usage.
It’s not like it was a hostile take over. They played their part when Musk talked shit and they sued him to follow through with the purchase. They could have easily kept it, but they wanted the money instead.
I hope a significant number of them get new jobs and quiet quit to get that double paycheck for as long as they can.
For all of the doom and gloom of that view of the big picture, I do see a lot of beauty and good in the little things. That’s where I like to focus most of my energy.
It’s not like everybody woke up one day and “ah shit, everything’s fucked! How the hell did that happen. This is unprecedented!” The scale and tools might be new, but that’s about it.
The problem is that “continue on as normal” basically means to continually get progressively worse. Greed and oppression will increase. Division and bigotry will keep growing. Science and logic will be ignored or manipulated by those seeking power. This will ultimately culminate in some sort of horrifically deadly breaking point. Then we reset a little bit and start the cycle all over again and again until the humans go extinct.
I know that this is an incredibly pessimistic take, but that’s my view of current events.
Until I hear that they have dumped the requirement to log into Ubisoft Connect or Uplay or whatever they are calling it noe, then Ubisoft will remain dead to me.
Makes me sad. I really enjoyed the Assassin’s Creed series and have waited for Shadows for what feels like a decade now.

My sister-in-law was diagnosed a couple of years ago. It has only improved the quality of her life by allowing her to work with her doctor on a treatment plan that has mitigated the health issues she used to struggle with.
She is currently looking at going for a PhD in the field of her chosen career.
I just stated watching The Goes Wrong Show on Amazon. Not sure if I would appreciate more than 1 episode a night, but the first one had me laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe.
Are they trying to hide behind a “I didn’t know what I was saying” defense while expecting people to trust and listen to what they say?
From the AP News article on the topic
One unidentified influencer’s contract included a $400,000 monthly fee, a $100,000 signing bonus and an additional performance bonus.
Such savage victimization. I’m sure that they returned all the money once they learned what it was for and where it came from.
Have they solved the racial bias issues that has plagued facial recognition systems?
You aren’t necessarily wrong. Have you ever seen Friends without a laugh track?
City of Heroes (20 year old game). As an NPC, I would be screwed, as a player character, it would be pretty sweet at for the first few days before the lack meaningful interactions and the constant “work” started to get to me.
“… guys like me who have been debanked,” Donald Trump Jr. said
I had to look up “debanked”. Admitting to it has to be the financial equivalent of telling people you are a registered sex offender.
I’ve got a 20 year old Gmail account that I use when I need to sign up for something.
Usually in this order
I had to check to make sure that this was not an old April Fools Day joke article.
