So you’d normally say “that’s too much!” in which case the subject “that” is plural and countable so therefore “much” would be correct.

Otherwise you should say “you have given me too many refried beans!” since the beans are volumetric and not countable entities.

I mean, I’m sure there’s a statistic that someone can look up but as many people as are on the planet, I feel like there would always be someone within shouting distance if not closer. I guess it really depends on how fast the earth is moving and what the frame of reference is.

I really doubt this info. Sake is popular in Japan and would be (or should be) categorized under wine, yet wine is at zero in southeast Asia. So either wine literally means “grape wine” or the data is fucked up.
