OK, assuming your switch is also smart
Option 1: long-press/double function turns on both light and fan, that triggers an “I am going to shower” 5 minute delay where a humidity sensor senses when it is over and keeps the fan on until humidity is stabilized with the rest of the house.
Option 2: get a smart flow meter instead of a smart valve. Then you have useful statistics for shower water usage in addition to an instantaneous status. This has the side effect of the mood lighting turning on “late”
Option 3: get one or make an esphome + LD2410S on battery or plugged in close by, nobody goes in the shower for more than like 10 seconds without showering
Option 4: Time of Flight sensor outside of the shower pointing in to tell when the door/curtain is closed. If the ToF sensor is (for example) between 1.1m and 1.2m, the door/curtain is closed
Spinning up and down hard drives repeatedly drastically reduces their lifespan though. Once a day or so, fine, but if you set a 30 minute idle time or something and it spins them down a dozen times per day, you are putting acceleration forces on the drive many more times than intended.
If you have to buy a new HDD twice as often because you spin it down, any financial or environmental savings is instantly negated and in the end it is much, much worse in both respects.

If you are hosting other things with it, then a reverse proxy like Caddy or Traefik + crowdsec is pretty much as good as you are going to get and you can add region blocking on your router (if that feature is available) or if you use cloudflare as a proxy.
If you want to go really crazy, you can put authelia/Authentik in front of it, depending on what else you host.

CrowdSec could probably catch a moderate amount of them, but that is really geared towards bad actors and malicious probing bots.
Fial2ban also wouldn’t work at all here since they aren’t trying brute force attacks, they are just using high bandwidth stealing as much public data from everything possible.
I think cloudflare is also making an alternative (or has already), but it is a tough problem.

Corpos suck ass and have no respect for their workers, but revenue is pretty useless for guaging a company’s financial health. Companies tanking and going out of business often have hundreds of millions until billions of revenue, while still being a hundreds of millions in negative. Kind of a different story than presented unless we know their revenue minus operating costs and if they have done investor money scams like stock buybacks.

Yeah my favorite electronics hobby supplies website has started to take 2-10 seconds to load. Still great service and the best selection of modules in my region though. They should really throw Anubis in front of it.

I’ve already replaced lutris with Heroic launcher + proton and wine-ge a year ago.
Lutris install script already didn’t work >50% of the time for me and battle.net always completely corrupts and messes up after a time on lutris and I have to reinstall it every few months, but has been going a year strong on heroic.
You can also always look at the lutris install scripts and install those components in heroic via winetricks. They were made by the community anyway.

Zach Freedman always has quite thouroughly thought out videos. Not always interesting for me personally, but quite a few bangers.
And he launched Gridfinity into the ecosystem it is today.
I dunno man, my farmer works from 6h to 23h with barely a break in between, only eats when he absolutely needs to or is going to fight ghosts alone to get sprinklers to ease the work just a little, and maybe has a couple days of talking to people or going to the arcade per season lol.
Relaxing for the player, maybe not for the farmer themselves.
