Did they go back on the CLA? I’d more readily point out their proprietary software on their gitlab, and their general lack of commitment to FOSS. They made a newly fully proprietary gif service and whatnot, which is just weird for an org promoting FOSS.
Yeah, I took the forking process as an opportunity to move everything over to codeberg, which was clearly the right choice. I am very happy with codeberg

This is what I was referring to, they seem to be anti-AI, though still very early on.
They used AI for macros, and refuse to remove the AI code, plus I’m not convinced it’ll reach MVP.
They have evolved more and more twards not removing the AI code, which is frustrating, I had been watching with hope for like 1.5 years, but after they added the AI code, and refused to remove it for so long, I’ve kinda lost any hope.
totally agree, though it was the wrong repo in this case lol
Yeah, I get the confusion, this is part of why we’re thinking about making fermi the primary name due to it having much better SEO and whatnot. We’re very anti-AI and have been working on removing any dependencies that we can from Harmony that use AI. been a lot of work getting everything into shape, though it’s worth it as I’m not really aware of anything else that’s as complete as we are, anti-AI and fully FOSS. Though I’ve heard of another project that’s fairly early on recently, and will be interested to keep an eye on that

(this doesn’t have many of the most recent updates, but it has most of it)
"But making commercial use of vast troves of copyrighted works to produce expressive content that competes with them in existing markets, especially where this is accomplished through illegal access, goes beyond established fair use boundaries. "
The US copyright office wrote up a pretty large paper pointing out it’s piracy.
Violation of copyright/piracy :P Among many many many other crimes. I’ll take the word of the US copyright office who says that it is not fair use over your word.
We are not a court of law. We can see crimes happening and call them crimes. If you think that ignoring evidence is fine, that’s up to you. I personally like to look at the evidence and make conclusions, like these crimes AI companies are doing, are crimes. Did the AI companies think about for 30 seconds about how doing crimes looks like doing crimes?
So in order to counter my point, you make a false equivalence. Cool. Try again.
you need schooling, this is like people who shout that others are breaking the first amendment not thinking that it only applies to the government. Courts determine if it’s a crime to a certain degree of certainty for the government, we are not the government. We are people who can use our eyes to see that people break the laws and have not been sued yet. it’s not magically not a crime if they aren’t sued over it.
Do we need to have a court case to say that all of the criminals in the files are criminals? of course not. We can see their actions, and the laws and say that they committed many many crimes.
Same way we always do? look at what happened, and see that a crime happened
That is a very stupid argument. everything can be represented as a group of numbers.
What is “the tool”, GenAI or ML. If you mean GenAI, then, no, GenAI is the problem
What court case did I bring up?
They are crimes, they stole their data, and the ones people can run locally still are a part of those crime rings. Plus the ones that can run locally aren’t very good, not that the larger ones are too great either
There are many places where we talk about it, that was a very hastily made post to sooth the community while we were trying to figure stuff out.

This is the post from Harmony, which has some more information, and was made with a bit more time
