  • Only you are the expert on your own experience but what you have written here and in your previous brain goblin post is consistent with transfeminine experience and with our desperate pretransitional need for assurance, for signs, for authenticity, for a certainty to wield as truth against our own self-doubt. I had an experience, a revelation, which altered my self-theorization with respect to gender in a transfeminine way, changing the emotional context of my gendered memories, and placing me in touch with a traumatic realization that things didn’t have to be this way, that I could have been living a woman’s life all along, but afterwards I didn’t want to trust myself, trust that this was indeed the kind of experience from whence one’s gender is acquired, and preferred to wait for some unknown something to afford me additional insight by which to justify transition to myself and the world. Some of us are more gendery than others and there are many paths to self-knowledge, but if your experience is similar to mine, how long do you want to wait? What finally pushed me over the YOLO ledge was feeling that whether I was a trans woman or not I still wanted to start HRT and transition, thinking that surely only a trans person would want to transition, and trusting that I would find whatever certainty I needed along the way. In retrospect, searching for some true core gender identity didn’t really work for me but embracing my own agency and my process of becoming definitely did work. Recently I’ve been reflecting on whether the insecurity over seizing the means of our own self-production is a Capitalism thing. I kinda think you have a case of Capitalism.

  • So very cool! Folks had told me it was hard to get a hold of a good electrolysis machine. Like, there was a racket limiting availability to professionals. Seeing that you have one is an inspiration! I had been planning to have to build my own.

Are you happy with it so far? How long have you had it? Have there been any scaring problems? Are the probes and gel easily sourced? Have you ever traded work for work with another electrologist? Occasionally I see folks seeking such arrangements where I live. Do you mind lots of questions?

Also, you seem very knowledgeable about hair removal so you’re probably aware, but some folks use a dual mirror setup for hard to see places, which might make the neck area easier.

Anyway, very cool bit of kit you have there!

  • Try not making it sexual! Turning special private time into a pagan ritual helped me. Visualizing and feeling myself alone before civilization in a place of deep connection to nature and our Earth, with my body as sacred and my pleasure as an energy that binds me and all of life together making us possible. Like, ours is a universe that lifes, and I’m connecting to it through pleasure. That sort of thing!

  • I’m sorry you’re feeling like this! Needing to know is rough. For awhile my situation was somewhat different but similar as well. Others have been where you are though and came out the other side okay! Have you heard Travis T.'s song tOCD?

What if you were raised to think that you can outsmart fate if you just

Think of every angle, think of every flaw
Think of every single fucking thing that could go wrong

Think of other choices, really think it through
Think of more excuses to avoid the fact that you still want to
