I’ll have to give that a watch. Dinklage is always a joy to watch.

Pronell@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your favorite games that you never see mentioned anywhere?2·11 days agoThat’s it!
I’d forgotten it was a match 3.
So imagine you have two of the same color side by side with no gaps.
You have the same color on the bottom of your current piece.
You could slam that piece into the matching ones, hoping that they would bounce up and allow all three to match in a row.
It was the one linux game I had that most friends would ask to play when they came over.
Pronell@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your favorite games that you never see mentioned anywhere?4·11 days agoAn old game that never really took off, Orbz.
I was one of the best players in the world while it lasted.
Simple little game, you’re a ball and you throw yourself at stars. The more you hit in a row without missing, the better your combo and score.
Essentially pong, but you play the ball, and it’s on a landscape rather than somewhere you fall off and die.
I made a few levels for it.
Another was Triptych, which my friends and I called jelly tetris. Imagine tetris but the bits are springy and bounce a bit. It was a blast. Both were commercial games available on Linux at the time, early 2000s.
Yeah, I was never on Compuserve, just aware of it’s history.
1990, through a local dialup university system that had security issues.
Within a few years after that we had home dialup internet.
In 1998, cable modems came to town. My neighborhood was the beta test area, so I had friends in my living room playing Everquest almost daily.
It was an old dial-up multi user system that charged monthly fees. Once the internet became popular, Compuserve connected, but they predate the commercial home internet.
Pronell@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it expected to drink alcohol on first date?71·17 days agoMedia has taught us that a first date involves drinking in a bar or restaurant, in part because of movie shorthand. (Dinner and drinks is a date, forget the rest of the evening, we just set the stage to imply the rest.)
As many others have said, your normal is your normal. Don’t let society or Hollywood pressure you into dating ‘their way’.
I met my wife on a date at a coffeehouse near here house. We then went to a pizza place across the street. No alcohol involved, but I did bring a board game into the restaurant with us.
Believable shower thought… wanting to go back to bed.
Pronell@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•What level of interest do you have in "empire building" location based games?English1·1 month agoI’d give it a shot, but I honestly leave my home only once a week, which makes these types of games less appealing to me.
I almost never travel either.
I’d still play a game that let me use/invest in local resources generously, and unlock more areas with travel.
I’d never be competitive in such a game, but I’m comfortable with that.

I’m someone who builds up earwax easily, leading to infections.
For the last decade, I’ve been regularly scraping it out with metal spoons. I’m even used to accidentally tapping my ear drum.
Last time I was at my doctors he commented (to the intern in training) that my ear canals are well sloped and naturally clean themselves, and I corrected him. Glad to know he didn’t observe damage I’ve been causing.

Turned out she had three kids with three different dads and the most recent one was in jail for domestic abuse.
I still almost went for it though. Problem is my life was in the shitter and couldn’t even afford to fly down or for her up to see me.
We were ‘together’ for about six months when I wised up and broke it off.

I don’t mind at all, especially as I’m trying to be uplifting with my comments.
Pronell@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The worst part of all this political nonsense is that porn never makes it to my homepage anymore81·3 months agoI blocked it because I browse all and every day dozens of communities were being created. And I don’t need porn communities here really. I just didn’t want to miss out on the non-porn NSFW content, comics like Oglaf.
Edit: Shit I just remembered it was actually because assholes kept posting SFW pics of celebs causing their NSFW communities to show up.
I’m talking about Lemmy bots in general, on any instances.
I view all and have to block bots fairly often as they’re posting things in languages I can’t read in large amounts.
I think they’re supposed to use language tags and are not, but I just block them because of there being a large amount of unhelpful content.
And let’s be honest, there’s always gonna be a ton of that, hence my filtering. But if the people making bots to post content could make sure the posts are properly marked, I wouldn’t need to block them and would continue to see the content they post that I can read.
None of them do their language settings well.
A peacock’s tail is a flourish, something that adds to the whole without detracting.
A cocktail combines spirits with other flavors to make them something else.
I don’t really drink cocktails, but thr antiquated term makes sense in a particular context.
Now looking it up, apparently the origin of the term isn’t actually known and my interpretation isn’t even in the running, but I’m saving this anyway because it’s amusing.
