That explains all the AI crap they’ve been chasing for a while now. They’ve been trying to juice up the value to make it look appealing to potential buyers because you can basically slap “AI” on anything and it instantly shoots up in value.

The phone market is brutally, viciously competitive and an outsider trying to jump in without Android or iOS is almost guaranteed to fail. We used to have numerous options from all kinds of companies that came with a variety of operating systems but each one fell to the duopoly.
People are glued to their phones and social media more than ever. I would expect an attempt to get them to move to a non-American mobile operating system and phone would fail very quickly. Blackberry did used to make their own line of phones that ran BB10 and they were excellent. Nobody bought them though, or at least not enough to justify their continued production. Even fewer bought the following Android-powered BB phones and eventually Blackberry pulled out of the market. The same story for Windows mobile phones.
There are plenty of options for non-American cellphones and I’m sure in the coming years we will see Canadian ones too. The problem is that they will almost certainly run Android which means American control over your data and feeds. Getting Canadians to accept a sacrifice in short-term phone functionality to regain digital freedom in the long run is a tall order.
Those datacentres have to pay the increased prices too. More expenses, less profit, angy shareholders.
And it will tumble even more when Donald tariffs Taiwan silicon imports. And when the economic strain means Americans are not able or willing to dump several grand on a GPU.
This will flop so hard. AI is largely an investor-bait thing; actual consumers are lukewarm to it at best. Especially if they have to actually pay (hundreds) for it.
Don’t have it although I am loosely interested in it, but not enough to spend the nearly $100 (after tax) asking price. Maybe when it’s $10 on sale or something.
Christ, the game industry is absolutely cooked.
AMD seriously needs to start taking driver support seriously.
Both my dad and myself have (begrudgingly) moved to Nvidia because we both got hit with constant driver timeout crashes. My dad also got rapidly flashing black and green screens countless times. I use my PC for work purposes so that kind of crap is unacceptable; I need absolute reliability that I can depend on.
Myself and so many other customers would love to see better bang-for-buck options in the GPU space like the good old days, but AMD really needs to sort this shit out. Intel has the excuse of being a brand new player that is working entirely from scratch, but AMD has been in the GPU game for decades and should know better. I mean, christ, their CPU division is basically printing money right now so they absolutely have the resources to fix this.

They’ve needed this for a long time.
My dad has a Samsung (made by HP) printer in his office. It’s a gamble whether it will actually print something and another gamble if said print will actually have toner on it.
And the gamble is not in your favour.
I don’t think I’ve read a single headline or article in recent years where HP wasn’t being called out for being an absolute steaming pile of dog shit.
You couldn’t pay me to use their products. What a rancid company.
