Short answer, nothing. Long answer, Mcafee, Norton, Kaspersky, etc. all have divisions devoted to creating viruses to keep the rest of the company profitable. Microslop has been increasingly desperate recently as they hemorrhage users. They have always been a deeply dishonest company dating back to the 90’s and IP theft over GUI. I suspect they might be behind the recent push to scare the public of “the dangers” of open source and think of the kids I.D. checks.

I use the same naming convention as you for stacks, but since I’m running a docker swarm I have to mount the NFS in the exact same way on all my nodes, which are just 3 R-Pi 4s. It’s a little janky in that if the NFS goes offline all my services go along with it. Traefik works really well with a swarm, especially when you have it set to auto pick up any services and proxy them.

The first thing I did after wiping windows and installing Arch on my new Thinkpad. It’s now my Ollama button for whatever model I feel like running locally.

It’s an old game but I recently discovered Kittens Game. I also love Balatro, but Kittens it is more complicated and deeper. It’s basically balancing spreadsheets for fun. Don’t look at the wiki until you can get 120 kittens.

Because modern hardware includes instructions that old software could not benefit from. For example H.264 video decoding has specific instructions physically designed into the silicone to speed up playback that isn’t there on older hardware.

That being said, it really depends on the use case and a lot of “modern” software is incredibly bloated and could benefit from not being designed as if RAM is an unlimited resource.

That’s a good point. The model weights could be voltage levels instead of digital representations. Lots of audio tech uses analog for better fidelity.I also read that there’s a startup using particle beams for lithography. Exciting times.

I use it to ssh into my desktop every time I reboot because the SDDM systemd unit has to be restarted manually. Light DM had the same problem. It’s annoying, but running Arch on Proxmox with GPU passthrough isn’t easy to troubleshoot with so many variables especially when Proxmox is set up to be headless.

Stuff like this exists because someone doesn’t understand the technology. It’s infuriating, and I have had to deal with similar situations.

I had a job where I needed to interact with a PDF doc that came out every month. The person doing it would print out all 50 pages, someone would sign the last page and she would scan the whole doc back in. So now instead of a useful PDF, we just had 50 pages of pictures.

+1 for FreshRSS, I’ve only been using it for about six months but I’m constantly tweaking my config just because I like to play around with it.

I first read it as neanderthals are less aggressive so they must focus now on weapons. I’m pretty sure the intention is that the guys working on the wheel have to stop because the current leadership are neanderthals.

I think neanderthals were less war-like than humans because humans eradicated all of them, but I’m probably reading too much into it.
