0·11 months agoOn iPhones, if you have Face ID enabled, pressing the power button 5 times puts in lockdown mode. This disables the usb port, Face ID, contactless payments, and requires the 6-digit pin to unlock everything. I don’t know if android phones have something similar.
It’s a neat trick for when you think you might get into a “situation”. Also, the cameras still work.

in all of my years living in NYC, this has happened on no fewer than 4 occasions— seeing aa missing pet sign and then looking over to see that pet just sitting there or walking around nearby. yes, I called the owners.

Autonomous cars are barely working. How the hell is this a good idea?
On one hand, yes this was terribly stupid.
One the other, I understand why people are forced to drive under desperate circumstances to get to work, doctors appointments, etc. because public transit in most places is so bad it’s worthless.
