That was 100% me transposing the numbers xD I thought it said 1989 for the joke, it was 1998. Also I did the math wrong and said 50 instead of 40, two fuck-ups for the price of one!

I… Jesus. I had a fucked up childhood, and I know more people who’ve had fucked up childhoods than most, and this one. Assuming it’s all true this one takes the goddam cake. I’d estimate my own situation is probably top 20%, yours is… Well. You made it to adulthood so it’s not the worst I’ve heard of.
While in general men (at least in America) tend to get some unsavory things drilled into them in their upbringing, violence being one of them, it’s not common for it to be this level. Being physical with your friends is normal. Violence to that degree is far less so, I’ve known, as far as I’m aware, no one who is up where your brother is. The most common issue I hear from most people with most men is like… Immaturity. Which, while not great, also is not even on the same plane as punching a cat to death.

It’s an April fool’s joke from… 50 ish years ago. Hypertext teapot control protocol. Status code 418 was supposed to be what happens if you try to get it to brew a cup of coffee. It cannot brew coffee, it is a teapot.
“This is a Wendy’s” is a response to wildly off-topic remarks, similar in case to 418

Isn’t noted band with an openly bisexual lead singer Green Day performing as the opening act?
Actually a few of the acts are openly queer, or explicitly queer-friendly? Or, like Bad Bunny, planning to perform in a dress to pay homage to drag. So yeah, it’s pretty gay (affectionate)

Yuuup. I’ve helped train a lot of the current supervisors at my job, so they’re comfortable telling me about a lot of things. Plus I was being prepped to become a supervisor for a bit, and it’s… Not great, to say the least. I’ve seen people with hearts who’ve been changed a lot by management. Even worse when they go farther up the ladder.
For a while it wasn’t even about the money, since every position in the building paid the same. Moving up often came with a pay cut because of salary, and a different bonus structure. Kinda made me realize how little I wanted to be involved with any of it.

Loops would be the fedi TikTok alternative now

Based on need. Money (broadly) doesn’t do a great job at balancing resources, and while based on needs gets difficult when resources are scarce, America (at least) relies on overproduction anyway, so we do have the resources in a lot of key areas. Enough food is thrown away to feed all of the hungry, we have more empty homes than homeless people, unused clothing is thrown away end masse, etc etc, without even getting into how a lot of things are designed to be disposable that really don’t need to be.

Yeah, y’all have different food laws. I’m assuming the glue is food-safe, since it’s expected to have some residue left on the thing when you eat it, but idk about the stickers themselves, and can’t find anything about either, so… I’m not a lawyer or a nutritionist, idk what I’m talking about :D

Quite frequently, at least given the language they use around some of it, they demonize it because they fetishize it. Given the general anti-sex bent (usually for Christianity-based reasons) of the far right, it’s a “temptation” they have to resist, which then puts the fault on the “tempter”, not the person with the fetish they can’t accept is fine to have.
I was raised in a conservative family, and one of the things that made me a whole lot better was that it’s fine to be into weird shit in bed. Not saying that’ll always be the case, but it is part of it. Some of it is just people who’re grossed out by feet thinking that it’s a moral failing to be into feet, some of it is people who’re into feet and feel guilty about it. Guilt, and shame do things to a person

Given the one post that wasn’t deleted, it’s probably crypto-related spam

At least in America, yes. Granted, don’t, because there is plastic in it, but the type of plastic is in the General Recognized As Safe (GRAS) category for consumption. Not actually sure if the ones on bananas are, since most people don’t eat the peel, but apples, peaches, etc? Yeah, it legally has to be safe to eat.

I’d say a 3D one is good for most cases. Personal freedom, economic freedom, and political freedom, AKA the NationStates Non-Political compass.
Functionally, though, while it’s an easy visual I don’t necessarily know how useful political compasses are in general. One of my main gripes with the currently popular one is that it’s personal+economic freedom, and I don’t think there should be an economy at all[1]. I end up very lib left on it (something like -8,-8 or -9,-9) despite, again, not thinking economy is something that should even exist. Would that lean me more right on the economy, or left? Who’s to say! You’re not economically free if there is none, but also you’re as economically free as you want to be!
1: My political ideals are not how I vote, so I go as close as I functionally can.

I found this, which is a tutorial on how to transfer it to Spotify, but it has CSV export instructions:
https://soundiiz.com/tutorial/shazam-to-spotify
It seems like you might need to do it from the web interface, which would imply you’d need an account
Funny enough, I also have astigmatism, and it’s harder to read light mode for the same reason. It’s just that the blur moves inwards instead of outwards. With bold fonts it’s not as bad, but thinner fonts can be a pain to see

Since someone already said HR: Middle management. I don’t want to be making life changing decisions for other people at the behest of what someone else thinks shareholders want.

It’s especially bad when you look at time of day stats and see that, on average, judges push harsher sentencing right before their lunch break.
It’s wild that we have a system that ruins people’s lives that’s affected by how hungry one person is

Yeah… HR’s job is to make sure the company doesn’t get sued over worker’s rights issues, that’s it. It’s always said that they’re on your side, etc, but they are fundamentally on the side of the company

It’s kind of a fairly standard headline, nothing really absurdist, or “weird” about it is why, at least to my reading. A lot of submitted ones do kinda teeter the line of being a little too standard, but this one is just a fairly straightforward headline about a prescription drug getting prescribed more because of the adult population.
Interesting info, just not really on-theme, that’s all

I hadn’t, but also I eat them with the sticker on. It’s even made of food safe paper and glue!
I just peel them with the sticker on and didn’t notice xD Does make sense, though!
Publii is probably what you want. It’s a GUI similar to WP/SquareSpace, but it spits out static pages.
