Yes, people do. Thankfully we as a community aren’t bound to corporate shareholders, so it doesn’t matter how many people choose to use it, we don’t have a need to increase users. While we don’t have a fiduciary duty to be kind for similar reasons, I think it is generally a good idea to do so. In my experience when I have used words/phrase like “everybody” “nobody” or “people don’t” some have told me they found it off-putting or belittling when they are in the minority so I try to avoid it but I still find it hard sometimes as that is not the way I was taught to speak in government indoctrination camp so there is a lot of de-schooling I need to do.

I don’t like how Mastodon handles lemmy communities or Friendica Forums by making it look as though the group user re-toots every post and comment, but others do! We can all have what we want thanks to the magic of Free Software!

It might not be what you want, but it is what I want, which is why my primary social media is Friendica because IMHO it does a really good job of working well with all. They have dedicated photo albums, lemmy communities show as Friendica Forums, etc.

The information is already public. It’s part of ActivityPub. If you want to easily see it, use Friendica instead of lemmy. Your lemmy communities show as Friendica forums and it just works

Nostr is part of the fediverse, as is blueksy’s ATProto. Neither Mastodon/LEmmy (ActivityPub) nor Bluesky (ATproto) are decentralized. They are poly-centric, and calling Bluesky poly-centric is still a little bit of a fib. NOSTR is truly decentralized. Here on Lemmy if the admin of piefed.world gets mad at the admin of lemmy.ca we couldnt’ communicate anymore unless one of us got a new account. On NOSTR if the relay owner no longer wanted my content, you can connect to a different relay that does. (For example)
