Jetbrains vim mode gets pretty close. My current issues with it are that I can’t use the ctrl+o navigation to go back to previous location when using something like “Go to implementation” and import auto import is going to be the thing that’s loaded in to the “.” repeat action.

I’ve tried basic vim and IDE setup vim but Rider has to many nice things like checking inline SQL strings against a database when programming C# and that sounds like a can of worms to set up. I tried Lunarvim and it was really good but Rider just has a better debug mode experience.

It may sound weird but I don’t feel like maintaining my vim for couple of hours here just to have all the features of my current IDE. I still use Lunarvim on smaller projects or to edit some text and whatnot but for work I really prefer my IDE and all the bells and whistles that come with it. For example I have Ctrl+. to search for an action “history”+enter shows the git history of the current file. There are tons of these nice things.

I need VIM mode on my text editor.

You should try it when you get the chance, it’s absolutely bonkers. I had my reservations about it before I tried it and it was much better than I expected.

I mean the hype has died down but I think it’s rather that VR is too expensive right now. I want VR but I don’t want it $500 much to get a novelty item.

I think using it as a big ass screen would be nice and I really want to Serious Sam and Subnautica on VR. The immersion is really good for VR and I’ve liked it a lot every time I’ve played it.

Still, you need a decent space in the living room. A good graphics card for the frame rate and the expensive headset and motion trackers to get the full experience. That’s a lot to ask for with the current economy.

I just finished Good Omens also, it’s great but the first episode is not because it’s all setup. It’s a Terry Pratchett story that I think I’ll recommend that one for a long time.

That theory is very outdated. People found out that telemeres are important but not the main driver of aging. A lot of research is Nov going on with senescent cells and epigenetics which looks more promising.

Tons of drug tests on children to know the exact effect they have on development. Also anti-aging research to see how much you can potentially slow down aging and how the self repair mechanism of children works with respect to aging. I read half of it. It seems to overidealize the pre-law era to a large degree. Before law we had mass slavery, constant raiding of nearby tribes and nothing to prevent anybody from taking everything from a person. There is definitely a case where laws can become draconian and force people to break them but I’d argue that in most countries law prevent more unwanted behavior than cause it.

This especially doesn’t apply in modern times since you just need one person to create a private mercenary group to essentially create a mini kingdom within a loosely organised society. That person will very quickly be able to form a successful dictatorship by raiding, enslaving and demanding tribute from nearby settlements.

Even a laissez faire government with everything legal except violence will essentially make it legal to dump toxic waste on your front lawn everywhere without policing and laws. Toxic waste is currently being dumped with laws just under woefully loose law and I’d argue that we need more laws and regulation to prevent people from doing so.

I feel like anarchist theory quickly forgets that we had anarchy before law and people quickly formed kingdoms around settlements to defend themselves and aggressive kingdoms where more successful than passive ones.
