How are you with New Brunswick French? I find it significantly easier to understand than Quebec French. Partially I think it’s because they speak slower in New Brunswick.

Quebecois is definitely difficult. I can understand people the next province over (New Brunswick) no problem as they tend to speak slower and many of their dialects like chiac have a lot of English words in them. But Quebecois tends to be spoken very quickly, and in some cases words run together much more. I’m a bilingual French Canadian and I have a lot of issues with that accent, which is strange as my family mostly came from Quebec originally. My grandfather, whose first language was French could watch tv from France and understand it perfectly, but had a lot of trouble with Radio-Canada reporters.

A definite exception would be the Newfie accent from eastern Canada. People in the same country cannot understand them.

This reminds me of this idiot manager we had at work once. He said he was going to lean on our vendors to get better prices. What ended up happening was the vendors one by one decided it wasn’t worth it until only one was left, they realized they had a monopoly and doubled their prices every quarter for the next 3 quarters. This is the problem with idiots who have never had a real job, they don’t understand how regular people think or what their motivations are.

If you want to stretch out your ground beef use 1/4 lb of medium instead of lean and use TVP to fill in the rest. The TVP will absorb the fat and flavour, is quite a bit cheaper than ground beef and is shelf stable. TVP also has more protein than ground beef.

You have to be full blood Japanese to be considered Japanese and to be a citizen. So any Japanese who marry someone not Japanese is a large net loss for the society. Plus it’s impossible to become a citizen through immigration unless you’re somehow full blood Japanese.
