Can’t wait for my security-minded, feudal overlords
It is definitely leading us directly to a type of feudalism though. Where power is held by billionaires and corporations instead of local warlords.
Our planet is literally dying, and humankind is going to be decimated (at least) directly due to the actions of corporations.

That is pricey… However, as someone who has an ifixit toolkit that contains just about every shape and size of screwdriver bit ever imaginable (and several that defy explanation), it has been the most useful tool I have ever purchased. I can’t even count how many times I’ve used it.
And the quality is outstanding.
I actually thought this headline was a joke (i.e. adding 80% of 0 to 0 equals 0), until I clicked the link to see that people actually pay for Docker? I guess this is for Enterprise?
I have never really had much use for it, so never have installed it, but it seems like everyone here uses Docker, which is surprising given the cost and what you just said.
Oh shit, a reference to 2600 magazine! Nostalgia bomb…
Weirdly, a lot of them seem to care a whole lot about the color of their speech bubbles in their sms app
To be fair, you can do pretty much anything on a rooted Android.
But I wouldn’t say “instantly” since you’d have to root it first.
Dunno about other Androids, but just hitting the “power” (or wake or whatever it is) button 3 times on the Pixel pulls up the camera app. Even if the phone is currently locked. I think you can set it up so one of the physical buttons takes a photo as well but not 100% sure.
Meh, I haven’t really missed it as much as I expected. The one and only (pretty minor in my case) issue I’ve run into is not being able to charge the phone while connected to the car’s stereo. Though it wouldn’t surprise me if you could just use a usb-c splitter to do that.
Unless you get the (superior) Hebrew National dogs that come in packs of 7.
Streaming sites should have options like some video games where you can choose what type of speakers you are listening through. Because I do have nice 5.1 speakers, but I don’t always want to use them. Because they are loud as fuck lol.
Beatles songs are notorious for splitting vocals to one ear only.
FYI, you’re listening to the wrong mix then. Beatles albums (particularly those before The White Album, or maybe Sgt. Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour, I forget exactly) were never recorded with stereo in mind. The tech was pretty new, and the stereo mixes of those songs/albums were more of a novelty.
If you’re listening to the 2009 Remasters, make sure you’re listening to the mono versions if it’s an album prior to 1967-1968 or so, otherwise you’re gonna get this “fake stereo”, panning a mono signal between L and R, bullshit.
I don’t think it’s supposed to line up “correctly” no?
Lysergic acid diethylamide doesn’t fix a bad mix.
I mean… Have you ever listened to “Whole Lotta Love” or “Axis: Bold as Love” while tripping balls? Those panning parts are pretty wild.
And yet Pet Sounds (and even the contemporary stuff they originally recorded for SMiLE but never officially released) still sounds phenomenal to this day despite being in mono.
The man was a wizard.
00s music sounds so shitty because that was when digital music first became a thing. People thought 128kbps bitrate MP3s were acceptable (until they hear that mp3 they got from KaZaa play over the PA at their wedding and realize it sounds like raccoons fighting in a trashcan).
This is why, when it comes to old music, I always try to listen to it the way it was originally intended.
Pet Sounds, as beautiful as it is, was originally released in mono. It was mastered to be listened to in mono, at a time when stereo was mostly just a novelty.
It wasn’t until much more recently that they’ve taken those masters and created “real” stereo mixes from them. While they can often sound pretty good, they never quite reach the level of the best sounding mono mixes of the same material.
Just my opinion of course.
Maybe the internet will get a prion and die
