Is this a joke? Like 2k people on fedi don’t buy anything from Amazon for a week?
These "economic blackout"s are completely futile. Especially if they only target a single service, or if they target a service as big as Amazon. If this blackout is for everything Amazon operates, you can’t use Twitch, or Fire TV, or Prime Video, or Fire devices, or Kindles, or any website that is run with AWS. You think normies are going to sacrifice all of that ease of use for a week, and even if in some alternate dimension they have any self control over their consumption, they’ll just go back to using Amazon after this protest is over.
Amazon will survive for 7 days. What about people all around the world that quite frankly don’t give a fuck about uspol? What about subscriptions? Invincible 3x8 comes out in this time period, so nobody will watch it? People will stop using a third of the Internet, their streaming slop devices, their e-celeb propaganda outlets? It simply won’t happen.
These blackouts are an immature way to “break the system, man”. They completely ignore the reasons why normies go to the slop mill in the first place. The general population has 0 self control over their spending. They will consume, and consume, and consume, until they die.
What are you guys trying to achieve?
Mindless consumption will happen for the entirety of human civilisation. Übercorps will continue to enshitttify to no end, and people will eat the slop until it runs dry.
Why? Because deep down consumerism is a key pillar in people’s minds. The idea of buying and consuming is an act that must be compleeted, like it’s part of the Ten Commandments or the ending to a Iftar prayer. You see so much of this anti-consumerism rhetoric on social media but I guarantee that everyone in this thread bought something before, after or even on February 28, including the author of this poster.
The reality is, you have no power. People will continue to keep the slop mill running. Unless you want to start a mass brainwashing campaign and completely destroy the world’s economy, useless consumption will remain as a pillar of our society for centuries. This blackout achieved nothing, and further protests and blackouts will not do anything to change the system.
What’s the alternative? We live off the land? We completely stop trade? We live in a solarpunk fantasy that will never be achieved? Sometimes I think of alternatives to combat capitalism, but they always turn out to be 10 times worse.
You can make an impact on yourself, change what you do and consume, but 99% of the population will continue to praise Übercorps and be their personal shitter, making food for flies.
Here we fucking go again.

Brazen accusations and using the word Nazi like a t-shirt gun is why when people do things that are actually reflective of Nazi ideals, like Elon’s fortnite emote, people immediately stop listening. This doesn’t help anyone.

It’s absolutely true, look it up if you don’t believe it.
So first thing I found was this time in 2018 where he found a video by a creator called E;R about death note, and reccomended him without doing a background check. So E;R was a racist and Felix didn’t look further into it. When he was called out, he edited it out and publicly apologized. I don’t think that makes him a Nazi, he just forgot to research what he was promoting. [1]
Now here’s the second thing, which actually involves malicious intent:
Felix Kjellberg, who has 53 million subscribers to his “PewDiePie” YouTube channel, reacts as two men hold up a sign saying “Death to All Jews,” in a screenshot of a video he posted online. Mr. Kjellberg paid them to hold up the sign. The video was published Jan. 11 and pulled from YouTube this past weekend. The Indian men in the video apologized publicly in a video saying “we don’t really know what the message means.”

Now obviously paying people to say antisemitic comments is terrible, and I think Felix was trying to phrase this as some sort of “”“joke”“” but I don’t think this makes him a Nazi.
There hasn’t been a history of behaviour resembling that of the ideals of Nazis from Felix, especially not enough to say that he partakes in those ideologies. Thankfully his "dark humour " phase ended years ago and he isn’t doing these things anymore, so completely estranging him from anything for it is quite extreme, especially when I have seem some of this sentiment on Lemmy myself. Nor do I think he’s a horrible person for edgy comments and actions that most of us have definitely done one way or another on the Internet.
