Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What device never needed a 'Smart' version?
4·1 day agoAnyone else get use GadgetBridge instead of the respective brand’s app? It goes a long way into keeping your usage data private IMO.
We got a Air Pictionary game where you can draw in the air but displays on TV, but that requires an app WITH a user account to go along with it… So it’s sitting unused because I’m not signing up for your stupid app that’s harvesting my data!

Edit: ignore me, I finally reviewed the article and is through GH, not actual MS 365 page.

19·3 days agoOf course it is… Funny though, bc nobody really uses it at work, so our pricing should theoretically go down… But I doubt it, MS will find a way to make it go up

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Phone charges should plug into the top of the phone not the bottom.
2·3 days agoSame, it didn’t dawn on my flashing LineageOS that my IR may not work. Several F-Droid IR apps are terrible
Edit: https://f-droid.org/packages/us.spotco.ir_remote is about the only semi decent, but for TCL you have to do custom remote which takes some work.
You can also export and import which might save you time

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Phone charges should plug into the top of the phone not the bottom.
4·3 days agoI’ve kept my old TCL phone around as a remote at home bc the app worked so well and was easy to use. I just realized it’s not available in the Play store, nor apk pure for historical availability. I cannot hold down the icon to share. When I browse the file explorer I see the app but it doesn’t give me anything to view to copy… I wish I could share it!!

71·4 days agoWhy? My outlet is lower than my phone in almost every instance, so my voted going down towards the charger makes the most sense.
Besides, my IR Blaster, mic, and 3.5mm jack are at the top 😁

18·9 days agoThat didn’t matter for me recently. On a site, flights in cart, looked at rental car for <5 minutes and the outbound flights jumped ~$60/ticket in that time “due to demand” when the flight was 80%empty…
Got on my phone, on data (so new browser, new IP) still prices are higher. Hopped on my old phone over VPN to change region, checked out a different leave date, checked a couple, went back to my original date and flights were $40 cheaper (so still $20 more than before) but they gotta know based on Geo IP and time of inquiries it’s probably all the same person, smh.
What a scam!!

Games@lemmy.world•Xbox Game Pass is getting a price reduction.English
10·9 days agoAmen! Greedy bastards! Maybe think about how insulting it is to try and squeeze even more out of your loyal customers in financially stressful times. Disconnected. A price drop would need to revert to 2018 when it was $15/mo. We don’t need all those mediocre games in Game pass. We can’t even install all of them with the measly 1TB storage!!

Games@lemmy.world•Let's discuss ideas how Game Pass should be structured and pricedEnglish
31·9 days agoHow about just bring back online MP for $5/mo at 12mo purchase of $60. I stupidly joined in the GP tiers and watched it skyrocket from $10 to $30 and when my grandfathered price tier ended at $20, I canceled everything. Just shy of 20 years on Xbox down the drain! At one point MS had a bundle of everything that was $20/mo and that was Gold, Office, Skype minutes,1TB SkyDrive (before rebrand), it was decent.
Now they went from getting an annual $240 GP, $150 Office, and me still buying a bunch of games to now ditching the ecosystem until further notice. Greedy bastards!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you feel a kinship with people who drive the same make/model car as you?
3·11 days agoI did when I drove a Saab. I got it right around 2009 or so when the brand was dying off anyway. GM pretty much killed it, but the market finished it. Anyway, was always fond of them bc they’re safe and they weren’t common in the state anyway.
Now, I give a little rev for other manuals/standard trans I notice at a light as an acknowledgement they’re not alone. I usually get a little smile or nod haha. Easy to tell on flat ground and no brake lights on.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is an old movie that couldn't be made today?
12·13 days agoHeck yeah, the unedited or “Not Rated” DVD version had the uncut scene where she defecates on his chest! Quite funny at the time, but I cannot imagine then doing something like that now, nor all the 9/11 jokes. Plus making fun of NK’s Jim Jong Il. I feel like you couldn’t really do that without stirring the pot at least a little bit.

2 solutions:
I always feel if the cord goes over the top when you wake up to grab it and pull down you end up pulling the cord out of the phone anyway because the cord has resistance hanging off the end. Though, the cord I use is a heavier duty one I’ve had for years with a braided sheath to protect it, that might also add weight making it difficult and drag more.
