I reply to a comment.

Later, I want to see other discussion around the comment–who else replied, what they said, etc.

As far as I can tell, there is no easy way to do this. If I See Parent Comment, or whatever, it keeps me locked into that chain of replies and I cannot see anybody elses replies unless they are beneath my comment.

My only options are: 1-View all comments and find the original comment there. 2-Go to the user’s profile and find the comment, click on it, be brought back to thread at that comment (this is what I’d like to do with a single click).

This used to be a feature on a reddit (maybe it was called “go to comment”), but disappeared in the enshittifification.

Edit: Clarification:

What I want to see:

Comment A
= A Reply to Comment A
= = Reply to reply to comment A
= My Reply to Comment A
= = Reply to My Comment
= Yet Another Reply to Comment A

Right now, the best I can easily do is:

Comment A
= My Comment
= =Reply to My Comment

Perfect! So all it would be is link with a label in the hamburger menu. What label are you thinking? Context is ambiguous, “Go to Comment” is clearest for me.

I don’t like “Context” either but I see how you get there.

“Go to Comment” is wrong, IMO, because it suggests going to the comment itself; not the parent.

“Parent Comment” is good, but what if the parent is a Post rather than a Comment

You could change based on parent type, but “Parent Post” sounds weird; simplifying to “Post” doesn’t work because of verb confusion.

So “Context” seems best to me of those options…

        ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Depends what we’re clicking on first. “Go to this comment” is pretty clear to me, but it’s up to me to know to do that.

The problem with “context” is that siblings might not be considered context by the end user; I’d read it as a link to the TOP-level comment and reply chain leading directly to the selected comment, minus siblings.

Simply “Go Up” would work for nerds! Probably confusing for normal folks though…
