I don’t either, though this post did get me to revisit the lyrics and I discovered a mondagreen I’ve been repeating for decades. The line “I love you though you hurt me so” I somehow heard as “I love you though you’re ugly soul”, which I always thought was a strange but kind of cool turn of phrase. “though you hurt me so” is a lot more vanilla.
Still have no idea what OP is talking about. What a medium song to revisit. Not especially good, nor remarkably bad. Just… fine.
