The difference with all those other tools is that you are always there when it runs. You are not there when the robot lawnmower is running and some cat jumps your fence, which is why it should not harm the cat.

You are kind of correct that the rpm of the robot mower blades are faster, but the blades are much lighter and most mowers even have swiveling blades that are only held straight by the centrifugal force, so they will just swivel away when they hit something.

The blades are not much more than razor blades that are mounted on a plastic disc with one screw each. You wouldn’t want to put your hand into the spinning blade, which is very hard to do anyway, but there is just not enough power to throw rocks with any significant force.

I would be able to put my finger in the way of the blades if they were completely blunt and I would not get hurt very much if at all, doing the same thing on a normal mower would be a very different story.

Lawnmower robots have much smaller blades with less inertia. I don’t doubt a direct hit would hurt, but rocks just won’t get thrown very fast by it. A direct hit would also be pretty hard to achieve because the skirt stops anything big from getting under the robot and the blades stop immediately when it gets lifted up.

Just imagine how many lawsuits the manufacturers would have to deal with if these things were only slightly unsafe.

Yeah, I wouldn’t classify myself as rich, just middle class and I do some of those things, my mom and her boyfriend could do all of those things and I would not classify them as rich either, just upper middle class.

The actually rich people buy stuff that is so expensive that I couldn’t afford it, even if I saved for years, and the price is mostly that high so they can show their rich friends just how rich they are.

Drug addictions spiral out of control because their lifes suck and they want an escape. If you make their lifes harder you dont help anyone. Drug addiction should be treated in the same way as mental illness.

But the most effective way to help them is to give them a perspective and a way to get out of their situation before they have to stop using the drugs, i.e. give them housing and have a doctor supply them their drugs, then slowly taper them off.

Or just dont let people get homeless in the first place.

I do know how to read an analog clock, but I dont read it subconciously, because my brain works on digital time, so I will have to look at it and then figure out what that time is if it were on a digital clock.

So if I see an analog clock I would rather look at my phone because that is just quicker than doing the conversion.

If you have a (preferably NVIDIA) GPU, you could run one of the many applications that use Stable Diffusion on your PC. I have only used these before:

Fooocus: Really easy to set up, but not really meant to be used with other custom models, has lots of artstyles to choose from.

Automatic1111: Also pretty easy to set up, maybe a little bit harder. You have to download the models from somewhere else, but its much easier to import them and it has lots of options.

Fooocus will probably suffice, just select a fitting art style to get a good look.

It also breaks the flow of the video, which is why I have started skipping them. I noticed just how much nicer videos without any sponsorships are because you dont have to dedicate time to lead into and out of an ad and can continue the video without explaining everything twice.

I also dont see any value gained by me or the creator if I fully watch the 100th squarespace commercial, as I dont get to hear anything new.

But the most egregious videos are where they try to hide that they are transitioning into an ad, like by creating some minute long argument that leads from the topic to the sponsor. Which leads to me not only having wasted my time for the actual ad, but also the transition.

With Lemmy you have a selection of echo chambers, so its much more diverse in the end.

I would say owning it while not using it very much and not renting it out is the least ethical choice as no one can use that house.

The most ethical option besides not owning it is renting it out at a reasonable price, so someone else can live there and you are not squeezing every last dollar out of them.
