I don’t know. It seems like they’re addressing the issues that the first one had. It was too safe and far too full of itself. It should have just been one big planet and a bit less goofy. Seems like the next one is shaping up for that. Also, if there is a game company that I trust right now it’s obsidian. I was super disappointed with the ending just being the same slides they used for new Vegas, hopefully we at least get a more satisfying ending.
A guy down the street from me has been having a garage sale pretty much every weekend. I think he was probably charging too much before and has eased up a bit. He’s almost gotten rid of everything I usually see. I stopped in last weekend and he had a random assortment of old screwdrivers that said “free”. I got to chatting with him and mentioned that I’m trying to get a shop together so I can build toys (my sister was complaining about how everything is plastic for her kids). He was like “wait right there”. He ran into his garage and came out with armloads of tools and just said “there you go young man”. I’m not sure what made me feel better, the tools or that fact I was called “young man” at 36.
I tried explaining this to my family. The legal documents you have to agree to should be a huge red flag when all you get is “you are caucasian”.
Good for that owl for continuing its education. It doesn’t have a fucking clue how to read but it’s trying.
YouTube “algorithms” are nonsense. I watch one deep dive into the fallout games and despite the fact that I have, and continue to watch British TV shows it’s relentless in showing me deep dives into “fallout lore”. What I’ve chosen is like 3% of what I usually watch. It’s not a very popular genre in comparison to, oh, the fucking BBC. Still, it’s all of the sudden its the only thing that gets suggested.
My hope was that AI would, at least, bear some disgust for the worst of humanity. My new fear is that AI will bear disgust for humanity.
If EA or Ubisoft don’t get their shit together this won’t be enough.
My neighbor was John jr. They called their first born John Jo. I felt bad for the both of them. It’s nepotism. It’s an attempt at diminishing individuality even if everyone has good intentions. All great people but that always bugged me.
They are years too late. The effort to make 30+ years of games, launchers and Windows based divers compatible would be staggering. The only way this happens is if they just run Windows or Linux virtually. They walled themselves off a long time ago. Now they get to suffer from it.
Pretty sure our phones do this everywhere.
I get tremendous joy from riding my bike. I bought a used one but a good one and it feels like flying. I go out 2-3 a day if I’m not working. It doesn’t feel like exercise.
Were we the only family that said “the cat will be fine” in literally every scenario? She’s gonna fuck off for a day. She’s on the roof. She’s sleeping in the engine bay of the car. Who cares? She’s a cat. She died quietly in her sleep at 16 years old by the way.
She put him in the fucking public eye for what all teenagers, no matter what, do. Like, this is how you get an incel, or worse. Right? Shame on this woman.
My first reaction was “Brian Eno did the chime?!”. Weirdly. Yesterday I learned that Trent Reznor was the sound designer for the original DOOM games. When you think about it, it makes sense. These people are experts. It’s just weird to see rockstars branching out in anything other than gin/vodka brands we don’t really care about.
If people can’t get the concept of supply and demand anymore we are beyond “in trouble”.
Why sell multiple games and make more money collectively when you can just sell one and alienate your loyal customers? Art of the deal.
I think it’s generational. My parents simply will not watch animation and they don’t realize that they can’t explain why because they were just told “it’s for kids”. In fact, their entire generation seems to have responded with “okie dokie” to everything they were told when they were young and now all of that stuff is the gospel to them. My mom even said once (on South park) that she found it funny but couldn’t watch it. On the other hand I don’t really meet too many people my age that can’t debate between family guy and American dad. Almost everyone I know has watched big mouth.
Did you play the 2016 one or eternal? My first ever game was the first doom. Doom 3 is a great game but it just wasn’t really doom. Getting into the lore was cool though. A roommate forced me to try doom 2016 and it immediately brought back the memories and feelings, they also use and continue the lore in a non invasive way. I haven’t yet played dark ages but the modern ones are very much the successor to the originals.
False validation is a hell of a drug.
