5·1 day agoCould? You mean “are actively”
The world is actively imploding. You desperately want to put your head in the sand, but you’re bored down there, so you now want to pull your head out and have the rest of us maintain your childish illusion while you ignore objective reality. Grow up and scroll beyond posts you don’t need
You’re also showing yourself as confidently ignorant as you’re angry, but also obviously aren’t filtering certain communities or keywords that your sensitive eyes can’t handle with your app. Again, grow up.

Technology@lemmy.world•Cory Doctorow: The people who tell you ‘AI is changing everything’ are lyingEnglish
21·2 days ago“AI” isn’t a thing. Computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing and neural networks are. These can all be useful tools when regulated and maintained with active oversight to balance with society’s other core priorities. What’s at question is the current method and human cost for this frivolously hyped, deceptively marketed lying machine with a single tangible use to date, being the operating system for Facebook’s pervert glasses. You didn’t read, of missed the entire point of, this important article, shared from an important contemporary mind.
Name and cite SPECIFIC examples of anything you claim.
P.s. you don’t “cure cancer”… cancer is a broad heading for hundreds of unique types of disease, presenting in different, completely unique systems within the human body. Like AI, “a cure for cancer” is a broad generalization of complex underlying systems that ignorant people make frivolously - People who think they HAVE the entire knowledge of the world in their brains, when they actually only have a plastic rectangle in their pants pocket with privilege-gated access to a (mostly corporate) CURATED VERSION of the world’s historic knowledge. So if you’ve “cured cancer” friend, why aren’t you treating the 20-30k humans that will die from a form or cancer today worldwide?

4·2 days agoSuper cool! Well we can base your personal healthcare on AI’s sole guidance and if you are misdiagnosed, injured or dead as a result of an “oopsie”, no human will be held legally liable - fun!
So no real stakes for anyone to get it right, as with human-led interventions (with careers on the line at every stage to keep people engaged and honest). But corporations will probably just naturally do the right thing.
But you’re brave, you offer yourself as tribute to the lying machine. Tight tight tight!!!

They are real people these friends of mine, but you don’t know them, because they are from a different school. And you won’t see them this summer at all because… they are both actually models in Canada during the summer.
But totally cured and now they get boners also with THIS ONE TRICK that doctors HATE it!!!

It was Robert Downey Sr’s 43rd birthday party, I was bill cosby’s +1 and we were celebrating at the corporate training restaurant for Cici’s pizza. You know who would say economic boycotts don’t do anything? A lot of people defending Target a couple years ago. You could ask their CEO at that time, bit he was fired after they set the record for consecutive weeks losing value on their stock.

Technology@lemmy.world•It’s Looking Like the Cybertruck Is the Biggest Flop in Automotive HistoryEnglish
9·12 days agoDon’t forget random panels popping off during operation. Cringey “skins” applied to functional parts with shiity adhesive instead of bolts/rivets (e.g. the gas pedal cover that would fall off and jam the accelerator on), bricked by car wash unless deliberately triggering “car wash mode”, hidden or no emergency release for door locks sealing people into burning/submerged vehicles, truck that can’t tow, bed that can’t fit common items like a bike or dimensional lumber, perpetually ugly rust/hand oil stained panels, no magic unbreakable panels/glass, less range delivered than advertised, multiple features disabled by snow, improper safety sensors to detect occlusions leading to the finger chop/pinch incidents, cheap vibrating interior and fake auto pilot that constantly tries to kill passengers and pedestrians. And of course giving car makers cover to follow the dangerous, shitty tablet based Interior and attempt to end physical, no-look controls in moving motor vehicles.
And that’s just top of mind from inside this hellish firehose to the face of disappointing information that we live in everyday.
At least those 63 actual humans that purchased one clearly identify as the worst people in their communities with these malfunctioning $100,000 vape pens on wheels.

You’re comparing a leaky faucet with Niagara Falls - Yes, we need to hold all leaders to account and that work is only beginning after an election. There are no perfect humans that we can just set to autopilot. But again, there is no credible comparison here specifically.
I’m reminded of the recent comparison of Biden and trump on stock trades in office. Biden had something like 13 in 4 full years, I’d still prefer zero ideally… BUT trump has had something like 26,000 just within his first year of this term.
That is the scale of comparison on EVERY SINGLE POINT that involves the trump admin. Adults discuss the gray area, there is no credible conversation about surface comparison here.
