there was a study during WW2 germany whether factories could produce synthetic food from petroleum … i’m not entirely sure what the outcome of this was, actually, i should read up on it some day.

i mean that seems entirely like you do not have the same goals. you want the 3rd person (the man) to work, while the other woman (cis woman) wants to retain her workplace by pushing out competition. the workplace being “to be a woman in society”. a societal role is kinda like a workplace. and since transfem women are such efficient competition (many transfems i know are just outright more attractive than cis women, which i suspect is because they know what looks good from a male perspective?) the other woman is especially worried about being out-competed.
thanks, multi-communities seems like a nice feature!

i learned something new today! i didn’t even see the Hide Post button before. thanks!

i think a ship could do it… i think they need just a little bit less than 3 weeks. probably the cheapest option. otherwise airplane ofc. idk what it costs to rent a private airplane for that one single distance.

“reddit has made a bad decision” is not news. it’s entirely what is expectable of them.

kid: mom, can we have socialism at home?
mom: we have socialism at home. (“social” media)

then again, the very same type of person who is susceptible to one scam after another is the same person who watches one crime movie after another. because it hits the same spot. people just need to see someone bleed, suffer, loose out, etc. the internet delivers that to them by spreading fear, hate, anxiety etc. it’s all the same stuff.
the person who wants to be told for the 100x time that climate change is gonna ruin the world is the same type of person who promotes hate speech, because in the end, both want to see the world burn in one way or another, just that some people externalize that urge while others internalize it. same underlying mechanism though. people are addicted to the pain, hurt, destruction like the insect is attracted to the fire that burns it.

Pacific Ocean of America

hahahaha
wait you’re serious. let me laugh even harder

3 hrs is a shitload of time to get stuff done though

more like a half
I mean the stuff that is produced within the country is produced by the people. So it’s people’s stuff, in the same sense that milk is cow’s milk. It’s not for the cow, but from the cow.

don’t do intra-day trading. you will lose more than you gain in the long run. the bank always wins.
you’re not getting ahead of these sub-second well-organized trading algorithms that big banks are using.

sounds like you are living in south america.
I know if you “wait” things will get better. But why should I wait.
i want to offer a perspective to you that you have probably never heard about before.
the reason why things suck in the world around you is because we live in a time of enormous speed of progress - and progress always comes with hardships. that is why so many things are difficult. it seeps into all areas of life.

what you describe is called “dissociation” btw
some people have it as an automatic coping mechanism with difficult situations

for me it doesn’t work. tested on both troet.cafe and wien.rocks mastodon instances. neither following my user account ( https://feddit.org/u/gandalf_der_13te ) or following a typical lemmy community ( https://feddit.org/c/dach ) works. both appear in the search results, but their feeds are empty.
edit: update: sometimes it does work but results are inconsistent. probably it was fixed in a recent update and some mastodon / lemmy instances just haven’t updated to it yet. that would be good news ❤️
oh btw: about that sound: Alibaba already does it (and uses it as a way to track you, as all browser audio APIs have slightly different measurable variables)
yeah true it needs a 500 kb JS file that turns your computer into a steaming mess while also draining your battery on mobile
