…wait hear me out on this one: slow the rotation down by just a bit, so that a day lasts an equivalent of ~30 hours instead of 24.
Work a full shift. Fuck around with whatever your hobbies are after work until you’ve had your fill and are actually tired enough to sleep. Still get a full 8 hours.
I mean, it’d be great for like 2 weeks, until our corporate overlords decide to stretch an ‘8 hour’ shift to fit the difference, but hey, that’s what guillotines are for.
Watch that 8 hour workday quickly get moved first to 10 hours (capitalist argument being that it’s the new 1/3rd of the “day”), before ultimately consuming all additional 6 hours and having you work 14 hours straight like some feudal peasant serf.
I think it’d be great for like 2 days. After that your circadian rhythm is sufficiently fucked that you’re somewhat unlikely to still be enjoying yourself.
Maybe after a month or two we’ve mostly adapted and are sleeping 10-12 hours. That still leaves us with a cool 2-4 extra hours, not too shabby.
Alternative proposal: simply change the working day to 6 hours.

Down boy! There’s a time and a place, and some of us just want to read some comics, as the world burns all around us, ya’know?
That doge comic reminds me so much of the class struggle outlined in Das Kapital.
The doge has a monopoly on violence
That used to be true in Venice.
you’re right. i could really go for a chimney dog.
i thought we were going to read comics while we the datacenters

nope, i dont want the current heatwave to last longer during the day, if you could make the nights longer I’m on it
I have an idea:
We all work 2 hours a day.
The commute would be longer

I think we would gave better luck finding a way to have a 30 hour day.
