The FB post from Allison Montgomery, since the article was so vague about it:
Allison Montgomery for House District 25
Oct 10
I don’t know (Alabama Republican Party chairman Scott) Stadthagen and he doesn’t know me – this is just plain prejudice. Convenient timing, too, considering “protector of family values” Republican State House Rep. Easterbrook was just busted for soliciting sex with a minor. He’s not transgender, and he’s not gay – he’s a pedophile. Yet the GOP will keep telling you that LGBT folks are the threat to your children so that their friends can keep getting away with actual child abuse.
They brought up my womanhood because they have failed at governing. Ask yourselves: if I hadn’t transitioned, would gas be cheaper? Would your utilities be cheaper? Would groceries be more affordable? Would your medical debt go away? Would your rent stop getting higher? No; so it’s just plain weird that Stadthagen and other State House Republicans are so obsessed with me. When I’m knocking doors and talking with voters, they don’t care that I’m trans, and that’s not what I’m focused on either. I’m focused on the things we all care about: protecting our children’s right to free and high-quality public education, addressing the healthcare crisis so care is available to all of us, and making sure working people like myself can afford to start families of their own here in Madison County.
We have to level the playing field for all of us against the State House’s richest donors. That’s what I mean when I say “Dig up the rot, plant new seeds.”
Yay! New Hampshire, Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin, and Georgia all elected trans folks for the first time too, I believe. In my state, I’m really happy to say that a trans woman represents my district in the Assembly now. Alabama and Georgia were definitely the biggest accomplishments, though.
Who won in Wisconsin :o
Edit: ohh, Dina Nina!
Hell yeah you go girl!
She’s amazing!
How do they do that but then elect Tommy Tubbs as governor. What the heck Alabama.
House seat. So not all of the states bigots had a say in it, just the district.
didnt work on her campaign but here to say Alabamians are happy to be represented by her!!
Another victory in the march for liberty and justice for all!
Fuck that news source. What terrible people picked that photo?

It’s the photo on her campaign page.
Thank you. I would not have chosen a seemingly random, mouth open, action shot as my first impression photo, but success is success I guess.
